Dr. Vaitheeswaran Lalgudi is a cornea, cataract, complex anterior segment, ocular surface, and refractive surgeon at the Ross Eye Institute. He also serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Jacob’s School of Medicine and Biomedical sciences. Dr. Lalgudi has extensive training in this field from some of the best and top-ranked high-volume eye hospitals across the world.
Apart from his interest in cataract surgery and premium intra-ocular lenses, he performs all forms of corneal transplants. He brings the expertise of lamellar or component corneal transplants including the latest techniques of ultra-thin DSAEK and DMEK. These surgeries are helpful in reducing the risk of transplant rejection in complex corneal conditions. He also offers all available types of refractive surgeries as PRK, LASIK, SMILE and phakic IOLs.
His areas of research focus on the theme of personalized medicine in the field of complex cornea and refractive surgery via the use of novel lasers, customized medications, and molecular techniques. He has won several awards for clinical care, mentoring and research. He is fluent in Tamil, Kannada, and Hindi.
